The Hidden
Garden Retreat

A quiet countryside retreat shaped by nature, art and slow living.

Not a conventional holiday rental

Hidden within the landscapes of Mecklenburg, this retreat was created for people seeking distance — from noise, speed and the constant overstimulation of everyday life.

This is not a standardized vacation property or a staged boutique hotel. It is a lived-in place with its own atmosphere and personality. Historical architecture meets contemporary creative culture, quiet interiors meet digital creativity, nature meets technology.

Many artworks throughout the house were created with the help of modern AI systems and are part of the retreat's creative identity.

A place for calm and focus

The Hidden Garden Retreat combines historical architecture, expansive gardens and a contemporary creative atmosphere into a place that feels less like a hotel and more like a temporary home.

Books, art, silence, open spaces, fast internet and surrounding nature create an environment suited for rest, focused work, reading, writing or simply spending a few slower days away from the usual rhythm.

The surrounding nature, quiet interiors and understated atmosphere intentionally create space for focus, conversation, creativity and rest.

The Apartment

The apartment occupies the ground floor and first floor of the historic main house. High ceilings, large windows, original terracotta floors and exposed timber beams create an atmosphere of quiet, unhurried space. The rooms are calm, uncluttered and personal — designed for staying, not just sleeping.

Old roses, stone walls
and open lawns

The private garden surrounds the apartment on three sides. Old rose bushes, stone sculptures, a round outdoor table and shaded seating corners make it a place to sit, read or simply be — in relative seclusion, surrounded by greenery.

The wider estate grounds extend beyond the garden walls into orchard meadows and open countryside — quietly accessible, undisturbed.

A historic place with its own character

The property is a historic Mecklenburg estate — brick buildings, cobblestone courtyards and old trees that have stood here for well over a century.

The main house, outbuildings and walled garden form a coherent ensemble that feels removed from the modern world without being isolated from it. The nearby Plauer See and the wider Mecklenburg Lake District are a short distance away.

The apartment is privately situated within the estate — guests have their own entrance, their own garden section and complete privacy.

A Slower Rhythm

Some guests spend their mornings reading beneath old trees. Others begin the day with yoga on the meadow, quiet walks through the gardens, or breakfast in the soft morning light.

The Hidden Garden Retreat was never designed as a hotel experience. It is a lived place — calm, private and intentionally unhurried.

The six-hectare property is fully enclosed and cannot be seen from outside. Guests share the grounds only with the hosts, leaving enough space to experience silence, nature and privacy in a way that has become increasingly rare.

There is no fixed program here. No entertainment schedule. No artificial resort atmosphere. Only open space, old trees, changing light and the possibility to slow down for a while.

Some evenings end with a glass of wine in the garden. Others with books, long conversations or simply the sound of wind moving through the trees.

Six hectares of gardens, trees and quiet paths.

A private retreat shared only with the hosts.

A place designed for silence, privacy and slower days.

Not a hotel. A lived place.

For those who
value quiet.

The Hidden Garden Retreat is designed for people who appreciate places with character — not spectacle.

The Apartment at a Glance

The apartment offers 110 m² of quiet living space designed for slower, longer stays.

Two bedrooms with double beds make the retreat ideal for two to four guests. The additional sleeping options are intended as flexible comfort rather than higher occupancy.

The kitchen is fully equipped for everyday cooking, slow breakfasts and long evenings at home — including an oven, dishwasher, microwave, air fryer and everything needed for proper cooking and baking.

High-speed 1 Gbit fiber internet allows remote work when needed, although many guests may prefer to forget about it for a while.

Fresh bed linen, towels and thoughtful essentials are included to make arriving feel easy and unhurried.

Outside, the garden offers several quiet places to sit, read or simply spend time. Two barbecue areas are available for slow summer evenings outdoors.

A washing machine is available for longer stays. Laundry usually dries outside in the garden air whenever the weather allows.

Well-behaved pets are welcome by arrangement. The apartment is non-smoking. Only one guest group stays on the property at a time.

Plau am See and Lake Plauer can be reached within about ten minutes by car. Private parking is available on site.
